According to SFPD, a man sought in a November Mission sexual assault struck again this week, in what police are describing as a “very violent crime.”

A woman was sexually assaulted and beaten after a man followed her down 24th Street from South Van Ness Avenue to Potrero Avenue sometime between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on November 18, police said.

He eventually demanded money from the victim, and when she did not give him any money, he grabbed her and took her to another location nearby.

The man then choked, punched, slapped and sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing on foot.

SFPD believes that this same man was responsible for an early morning sexual assault and robbery Thursday morning at 24th and Fair Oaks streets, an SFPD spokesperson told the Ex.

According to Noe Valley, SF, the Fair Oaks Community Coalition says that “The SFPD cordoned off the northwest corner during their investigation, and the fire department was later called to wash blood from the sidewalk. [A neighbor] who lives across the street found a bloody undergarment in shrubs near her home and gave it to the police, who have classified this as a ‘very violent crime,’ and are giving it their utmost attention.”

The suspect is described as a black man in his mid-30s with a medium to light complexion standing between 5 feet 9 inches and 6 feet tall. He has a round, clean-shaven face, large eyes, a round nose and thick lips, police said.

In the first attack, he was wearing athletic apparel including a light gray hoodie with a front zipper, blue cotton running pants and tennis shoes, possibly in shades of black and white, according to police. He was wearing a black hoodie and dark pants in Thursday’s attack, police said.

Investigators also found surveillance footage of the suspect and released a photo (you can see it above), and are asking the public for help in identifying him.

Anyone with information about the attacks or the suspect is encouraged to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
