A-R-Lycra-Ice-Skate-Boot-Cover_67345687.jpgIt may be a sunny day in San Francisco today, but there are signs that the holidays are approaching–including the opening of two ice rinks in Union Square and Justin Herman Plaza.

Opening ceremonies were scheduled this morning for the Safeway Holiday Ice Rink in Union Square, which will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Tickets cost $10, or $6 for children ages 8 and younger, and skate rentals are $5.

The Holiday Ice Rink at Embarcadero Center also opened this morning, and will operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Admission is $9 for adults and $5.50 for seniors and children ages 10 and younger. Between 6 p.m. on Fridays and closing time on Sundays, admission increases to $9.50 for adults and $6 for seniors and children.

The Embarcadero Center is offering four hours of free parking for skaters on the weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays. During weekdays, it costs $8 to park for three hours. Skaters can park at One, Two, Three or Four Embarcadero.

More information on the rinks is available at www.unionsquareicerink.com and www.embarcaderocenter.com.
