When we last left the mayor’s race, incumbent Ed Lee had received about 31 percent of the vote, while Supervisor John Avalos had about 19 percent, City Attorney Dennis Herrera had about 11 percent, and Board of Supervisors David Chiu had about 9 percent, according to complete unofficial election results. Those rankings haven’t changed much with today’s preliminary ranked-choice voting results released this afternoon, with Lee still in the lead. He has, reports the Chron, declared victory.
While around 36,000 ballots remained to be counted last night, according to the Ex, about 18,000 of those were counted today.
The Department of Elections also tabulated “ranked-choice figures as a snapshot in time of who would be the winner based on the most recent counting,” the Ex says.
