monopoly_money.jpgIn case you weren’t sure on this one, the Wall Street Journal has recently reported that the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) released their third-quarter cost of living index, ranking San Francisco as the fourth most expensive city in the country.

Topping the list, also unsurprisingly, was Manhattan, followed by Brooklyn, then Honolulu, and then our city.

Other Bay Area behemoths get expensive love too, with San Jose staying in the top 10. Fellow costly locations in California on that list include Truckee-Nevada County and Orange County.

So, what makes our area redeemable despite its hefty price to pay to live here? As the Wall Street Journal says, “it might cost 61% extra to live in San Francisco, but the Bureau of Labor Statistics says workers in the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland metro get paid 20% more.”

You can learn more about the cost of living index, as well as play with (for a fee) their fun comparison widget, here.
