24th Street BART Station Reopens After Man Killed By Train

5:15 PM: The 24th Street BART station has reopened after a man was struck and killed on the tracks, BART officials said this afternoon.

According to BART spokesperson Luna Salaver, a man reportedly laid down on the tracks in front of a San Francisco International Airport-bound train at 3:20 this afternoon.

As of 5:15 PM, BART says major delays continue in the SFO, Millbrae and East Bay directions, but the 24th Street station has reopened.

3:42 PM: According to BART, the 24th Street station in San Francisco's Mission District has been closed due to a "person under a train."

Major delays on lines headed to SFO-Millbrae have been reported since at least 3:29 this afternoon.

However, BART says that service will continue to SFO/Millbrae, but trains will not be stopping at 24th Street.

As BART can only use one trackway in the area, riders are warned to expect delays in both directions (SFO and to the East Bay) until further notice.

According to Appeal reader sunnysunset, there are 20-30 minute delays downtown on all lines because they're running single-track through all downtown stations. Dublin trains, she said, turn back at Montgomery station, and Bay Point trains are the ones going to SFO.
