As of last night, incumbent DA George Gascon had more than 42 percent of the votes, compared to about 23 percent for criminal justice scholar David Onek and 21 percent for Alameda County prosecutor Sharmin Bock, according to complete unofficial election results. Those rankings haven’t changed much with today’s preliminary ranked-choice voting results released this afternoon, with Gascon retaining a strong lead.

As of today, Onek has admitted that a victory is unlikely, even with 36,000 ballots still to be counted. According to the Ex, about 18,000 of those were counted today.

The Department of Elections will also tabulated “ranked-choice figures as a snapshot in time of who would be the winner based on the most recent counting,” the Ex reports.
