A man whose car rear-ended another vehicle near the University of San Francisco early this morning is on life support at a hospital this afternoon, a police spokesman said.
The crash was reported at 12:33 a.m. at the intersection of Fulton and Stanyan streets.
The 33-year-old victim was driving west on Fulton Street when his vehicle smashed into the back of a car that was stopped at a red light at Stanyan Street, police said.
The impact caused the car stopped at the light to overturn, according to police.
Both drivers were taken to San Francisco General Hospital. Police initially said the 33-year-old had succumbed to his injuries, but police Sgt. Mike Andraychak clarified this afternoon that the man remains alive but is on life support.
The driver of the car that was rear-ended, a 27-year-old woman, was in stable condition as of this morning, police said.
The crash remains under investigation.
