A man who was fatally shot in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood early Saturday morning has been identified by the medical examiner’s office as 25-year-old Edgar Yegiyan.
The shooting was reported at 1:17 a.m. near the intersection of 35th Avenue and Rivera Street.
Officers arrived to find Yegiyan suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the Chron, Yegiyan with standing outside with two men, one a 25-year-old man, the other undescribed.
“We don’t know what their relationship is – if they were known or unknown,” SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza told the Chron. “The suspect then began to shoot at the victim numerous times.”
According to Ocean Beach Bulletin, a nearby neighbor says he heard “four or five” shots, then saw “a light-colored four-door car turn in the intersection of 35th Avenue and Rivera, then speed south down 35th Avenue toward Santiago Street.”
According to OBB, police don’t believe the shooting was a random act.
“I don’t think there’s some homicide suspect going around shooting people in the neighborhood,” Capt. Curtis Lum told OBB.
