sffd_officials.jpg35 entry-level firefighters will be welcomed into the ranks of the SFFD this week, at a ceremony at the SFFD Division of Training.

Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White will be pinning badges and presenting certificates, as well as administering the Oath of Allegiance to those who completed the 14 weeks of Fire Academy.

In a written statement, SFFD spokesperson Lt. Mindy Talmadge says the event “will be a proud celebration for the new members, their families and the San Francisco Fire Department.”

As soon as the day after the ceremony, many will immediately report to their new station assignments. The newly-presented SFFD firefighters will then be placed on a yearlong probation period, as is custom to entry-level firefighters.

The ceremony begins Friday at 9:30 AM at 2310 Folsom Street.
