The San Francisco Public Library invites anyone who loves books and is seeking a soulmate to give literary speed dating a try.
The event is being offered for the second time this month. This time around, it is targeting the baby boomer generation, but it is open to all ages.
The first installment was held in February and attracted more than 40 people between the ages of 22 and 40. There were events for both the LGBT and straight communities.
“That went really well,” said Joan Jasper, a curator of public programs at the library. “We don’t know if there are any marriages, but both were very popular.”
The next round of literary speed dating will be held on Tuesday for the LGBT community and on Aug. 9 for the straight community at the Latino Hispanic Community Meeting Room B, at 100 Larkin St.
Both nights, the event will begin at 5:45 p.m. and end at 7:45 p.m.
In that time, 36 participants will be given a number they will use as identification and then be anonymously paired up with a potential love interest. They will be given four to five minutes to discuss a book they either love, hate or are mystified by with their partner.
Each participant then notes whether they are interested in the person they were matched up with before moving on to the next potential love connection.
