sheep.jpgThe San Francisco Zoo is inviting children and guests to participate in their annual sheep shearing event on Saturday.

Chief sheep shearer, David Melcon, will shave each of the zoo’s sheep and two alpaca from head to toe, organizers said.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the zoo’s Family Farm.

Festivities will include demonstrations of the way wool is used, including spindle spinning, needle felting, and scarf weaving. Visitors will have a chance to spin the wool as well as participate in other activities.
