gavel.jpgAlameda County Superior Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers was nominated by Pres. Obama Wednesday to become a federal judge in San Francisco.

Gonzales Rogers, 46, of Piedmont, must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the post on the U.S. District Court.

Gonzales Rogers was appointed to Superior Court by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2008.

She previously worked in private practice in San Francisco from 1991 to 2003. In 2005-06, Gonzales Rogers was a member of the Alameda County civil grand jury, and she chaired the group during the following year.

Gonzalez Rogers received her law degree from the University of Texas in 1991 and her undergraduate degree from Princeton University in 1987.

She was recommended for the federal bench by U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
