Hey, remember the Muni driver who was caught texting while driving? As you might recall Muni said they had put the driver on a three day suspension, incensing the man who revealed this driver misconduct. After the media hoopla, she’s now collecting a paycheck while facing termination, leaving many to wonder — why did it take Muni this long to watch the video tape?
“I’m tired of these things going on,” Muni rider Shawn Higgins, who was kicked off the 24 Divisidero after videotaping the operator, told KTVU. “It’s just like ‘Oh it’s no big deal.’ I think this driver should be terminated.”
Apparently the deal got a bit bigger, as Muni is now moving to fire the driver, describing the video recording of the incident as “new information.”
Higgins takes issue with the MTA’s description of his tape as “new,” telling KTVU “When I filed the report, I left my name, my address, all my information with Muni…and I said in the report, I think it says multiple times, that I have a videotape of it.”
“Why didn’t Muni follow up with Higgins and ask, ‘Do you have a video of this? Bring it on in and take a look,'” asks the Chronicle’s Phil Matier on CBS5.
