obamastateoftheunion.jpg1:36 PM (Bay City News): As [Obama] walked down the stairs from the plane, the president smiled and waved at the crowd of dozens of people who were invited to attend the landing. He stopped for several minutes to shake hands and chat briefly with some of them.

He then walked to the waiting Marine One and boarded the helicopter, which took off at 1:20 p.m.

The president is heading down the Peninsula for an online town hall meeting this afternoon at Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto.

1 PM: According to Bay City News, Air Force One touched down at SFO exactly on schedule at 1 p.m. today.

11 AM: Yesterday, we gave you Obama’s fabulous SF itinerary. Now, we give you even more ways to follow the President as he embarks on a less-than-24-hour visit to raise funds for his 2012 campaign.

1 PM: ABC7 will have streaming video of Obama’s arrival at SFO

1:45 PM: More streaming video on ABC7 or on Facebook. You don’t even have to leave your desk to watch the president interact awkwardly with Mark Zuckerberg and Internet People at a town hall meeting at the ubiquitous Palo Alto based social networking site. Questions for the Facebook town hall can be submitted up to and during the event here.

4-6 PM: Obama will be met by both supporters and protesters as he enters his fundraiser at the Masonic Auditorium. Out4Immigration, GetEQUAL, Marriage USA, as well as other organizations and individuals will rally in front of the center in hopes of pressuring the president to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act and stop deporting foreign spouses of American citizens. ANSWER will also hold a protest at that time, to protest the wars abroad and ask for an end to budget cuts.

If you’re heading to the Masonic, however, watch out for the kids: 35 teens from SF’s Boys and Girls Club will be in attendance, chronicling their experiences at the event with (RIP) Flip cameras. The teens were awarded tickets because they are standouts in the Clubs, successfully pursuing jobs and education despite their hardships and surroundings. Given the difficulty of overcoming such challenges, as the Chron’s Carla Marinucci notes, “Those are the real VIPs.”
