A vehicle struck a pedestrian on the corner of Market and O’Farrell streets before driving away Friday afternoon, a San Francisco police spokesman said.
The woman in her 60s was transported to San Francisco General Hospital’s trauma center just after 3 p.m., San Francisco fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.
The woman suffered life-threatening injuries to her head and remains hospitalized, San Francisco police spokesman Officer Eric Chiang said.
Police are investigating the hit-and-run and searching for a suspect, who is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s with a scruffy beard.
The suspect was driving a silver Ford Explorer with a possible partial California license plate of 5JTJ3-4. He was last seen traveling west on Market Street toward Powell Street, police said.
