sfpd_squad.jpgSan Francisco police are still trying to solve a case involving the fatal beating of an elderly man in the city’s Bayview District last year, and are returning to the neighborhood today to seek more information.

Huan Chen, 83, was assaulted by a group of teenage boys on Jan. 24, 2010, after he left a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus stop at the intersection of Third Street and Oakdale Avenue, police said.

Chen was taken to a hospital with a head injury where he died on March 19.
No arrests have been made in the case and no detailed suspect descriptions are available, police said.

“It was just a senseless, brutal jumping,” police Officer Eric Chiang said today.

Homicide inspectors will be returning to the intersection this afternoon to hand out flyers with Chen’s picture and details about the case, Chiang said.

The mayor’s office issued a $100,000 reward last year for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects in the case.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to call the Police Department’s anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
