policeblotter_sfa.jpgSan Francisco police are investigating an altercation that took place near Ocean Beach this evening, Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.

Police received multiple reports from people at the Beach Chalet, which is located at 1000 Great Highway, as well as calls from people at Ocean Beach of “some type of altercation” at about 5 p.m., Dangerfield said.

He said witnesses told police that one victim was injured after being hit in the back with a bat and a “couple of people” were stabbed.

One person was detained across the street from the Beach Chalet on the Ocean Beach side of Great Highway, Dangerfield said, and as of 6:30 p.m., police were still trying to determine if that person was involved with the fight.

The investigation is ongoing, and Dangerfield said that police are working to determine if this was a gang-related altercation.

Dangerfield said the victims sustained injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.
