BikeLane.jpgA bicyclist riding the wrong way on a street in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood suffered life-threatening injuries when she was struck by a car Saturday evening, police said.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Haight Street and Masonic Avenue, according to police.

The bicyclist, a 42-year-old woman, was riding west against the flow of traffic on Haight Street and was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Masonic Avenue, police said.

The woman suffered a head injury and broken leg, and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman stopped at the scene and cooperated with police.
