pg&e_blackout(2).jpgMore than 100 PG&E customers had their power knocked out this evening near San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, a spokeswoman said.

An equipment failure caused about 150 customers to lose power near the 1000 block of Howard Street at 8:50 p.m., PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

Witnesses near the outage said there wasn’t any obvious cause to the power loss, like a car running into a power pole, Morris said.

Morris couldn’t comment on the nature of the failure, but she said crews could take longer to restore power if the problem is underground.

Customers should have their power restored by 4 a.m., according to PG&E.
