greatH_lede.jpgThe San Francisco Department of Public Works is performing maintenance on Great Highway today, work that supposed to begin Monday, a spokesman said.

The department was scheduled to begin a weeklong maintenance project Monday morning, but the work was postponed until 9 a.m. today.

Great Highway will be closed to vehicle traffic between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for one week.

Workers will be trimming back vegetation from the medians to improve visibility and will be removing sand from the roadway.
