One person was killed and another was seriously wounded in an early morning shooting in San Francisco’s Bayview District, a police lieutenant said.

At about 1:30 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Kirkwood Avenue, which is near Third Street, where they found two shooting victims inside a home, Lt. Troy Dangerfield said.

One victim had been fatally wounded and another had been shot multiple times. The surviving victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, Dangerfield said. Both victims were between 18 and 20 years old.

As of 5:30 a.m., police did not have information about the suspects, but members of the Police Department’s homicide unit and gang task force are conducting an ongoing investigation, Dangerfield said.

Police are not sure if the shooting was gang related or if the victims lived at the home where they were shot.
