Are you working tomorrow? If you’re a federal, state, city or county employee, probably not. Here’s a list of what we know is open, closed, and different for Friday and Saturday’s holidays.

Parking: Regular meter and street sweeping enforcement Friday. On New Year’s Day, a holiday parking schedule will be in effect and City parking meters, residential permits, commute lanes and street sweeping will not be enforced. Meters on Port property (like Fisherman’s Wharf and along the Embarcadero) are enforced seven days a week, including holidays. Hazards, the MTA reminds us, are always subject to citation and towing.

USPS: Open with normal hours and delivering mail Friday, closed Saturday, and they won’t be delivering mail.

All Federal and State offices: EDD is open, everything else closed Friday and, per usual, Saturday.

All SF city and county offices: Closed Friday, Saturday

Banks: Most are open Friday, but I’d double check the hours, many are closing early. All are closed Saturday.

BART: On Friday, BART is running extra trains, and stations will remain open until about 3 AM Saturday. But! “Certain trains heading out of San Francisco will skip some downtown stations to prevent overcrowding” they say. You’ll get home eventually, I guess. They’ll run on a Sunday schedule on Saturday, New Year’s Day, which means service will begin at 8 AM.

Muni: Regular service Friday daytime, your ride is free between 8 PM on New Year’s Eve and 6 AM on New Year’s Day. Metro service will run until 4 AM, and will run extra Owl buses between 1 and 5 AM New Year’s Day. The rest of Muni’s New Year’s Day will run on the Sunday/holiday schedule., which means Muni Metro stations will open at 8 AM instead of 5 AM.

Caltrain: Normal weekday service Friday day, with all rides free after 11 PM Friday. They’ll also be running four extra southbound trains will be added after midnight, departing the San Francisco station at Fourth and King streets at 12:45 a.m., 1:15 a.m., 1:45 a.m. and 2:15 a.m.
