shooting_nighttime.jpgPolice are investigating a shooting in San Francisco’s Richmond District that claimed the life of one man Wednesday night as a homicide, a police sergeant said.

Several callers reported hearing gunshots coming from the 400 block of 23rd Avenue at about 9 p.m., police spokesman Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.

Officers responded to a multiunit building in the block and entered one of the units, where they found a man who had been shot.

Paramedics were called to the scene, but the victim, who was between 20 and 30 years old, died at the scene, Andraychak said.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide, Andraychak said.

No suspect was in custody and no suspect information was released as of 12:45 a.m.
