newsomfamily.jpgWhat a difference a year and 10 months makes! When news of Mayor (for the next couple weeks, anyways) Gavin Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel’s, first pregnancy, with daughter Montana, broke in February of last year, it was blog fodder galore, from Valleywag to the Chron to, as SFist noted, everyone else in the media. But what they say about first kids* must be right, because the Newsoms are pregnant again, but it’s roused barely a peep.

The estimable Leah Garchik has the scoop on the Newsom’s #2 child-to-be, saying that Siebel Newsom called her to confirm that “the baby-in-the-making is a boy, and his due date is June 19,” after local radio “personality” Ronn Owens‘ interrogation techniques apparently weaseled some sort of implicit confirmation from the Mayor.

Garchik notes that though the Lt.-Gov-elect will be working in Sacramento, “the family plans to keep on living here, in the Upper Haight, while the new lieutenant governor commutes.”

Appeal pal and noted Newsom-specific pundit Beth Spotswood, who is vacationing in Poland, was not immediately available for comment. I’m sure that when she returns from dinner (“If I get another marinated carp…” she IMed to me this morning) she will join the Appeal in congratulating the Newsoms, and wishing them the best.

*disclosure: Like Montana Newsom, I am an eldest child! WE ARE THE BEST. Suck it, Angie, Patrick. You know I rule.
