cityhall3.jpgIf you passed City Hall last night and noted an orange tint, nope, it’s not the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown — it’s just a Beaux-Arts expression of team spirit, with orange gels placed over the dome’s usual lights in honor of our superstar-free SF Giants, who play their first playoff game Thursday against the Atlanta Braves.

“We’re going to try to keep it lit as long as possible…who knows? Maybe through the World Series” a Newsom spokesperson told the Chron. And, hey, why not? Sports commentators as crusty as the Chicago Tribune’s Phil Rogers think the team has what it takes to go all the way.

The Chron reports that it costs about $4000 to make City Hall orange (gels for the lights and labor), which comes out of “the city’s privately funded special events account.”
