michela.jpgIn his in print Sunday but not online until today column, free range Chronicle columnist Willie Brown ads some fuel to the Michela Alioto-Pier for mayor flame first lit by his colleagues Matier and Ross a few weeks ago.

Bringing to mind the misdirection techniques of a shorter, slimmer Ricky Jay, Brown twice urges readers to “keep (their) eye on” Alioto-Pier, as he tells the tale of how the D2 supe, already rumored to be considering a mayoral bid after being denied another chance to run for her supervisorial seat, reportedly provided the introduction for Brown at a recent event.

Brown says he responded “I know that your grandfather must be smiling, because in his vision, there’s got to be at least one more Alioto mayor. Is there anything you want to tell these people?”

According to Brown, “(s)he smiled broadly and the room went crazy with applause.”

Hmm. Not a confirmation, but not a denial, either. Readers, what do you think? Does Alioto-Pier have a chance in an already crowded race for Room 200? If she entered the race, would she have your vote?
