What’s a nuttier idea — that certain City Hall movers and shakers already have a total musical-jobs-chairs plan in place should Newsom ascend to Sacramento, or that a SF city Supervisor might run for Mayor just to screw over the guy who kept her from running for Supe again? The Chronicle presents both scenarios for your edification and amusement this week, let’s take a look, shall we?
In his column today, now-available-on-Thursday columnist C.W. Nevius plays blogger and presents what he says is “one of the latest rumors circulating at City Hall” regarding who’ll be in charge of our fair city of Mayor Newsom wins the race for Lt. Gov.
According to Nevius, folks are saying that the Supes (in some amazing moment of agreement, I guess) will elect current City Attorney (and mayoral wannabe) Dennis Herrera as interim mayor, who will then appoint current Board of Supervisors President David Chiu as city attorney, at which point current District 9 Supe David Campos will be elected president of the Board of Supervisors.
Nevius presents this gossip one day after his colleagues Matier and Ross say that — perhaps in slightly retaliatory fashion — Supervisor Michela Alioto-Pier is mulling her own bid for the mayor’s office after Herrera’s successful opposition to her run for another term as Supe.
“I certainly have very strong feelings about San Francisco and the people of the city I’ve been representing for the last six years,” Alioto-Pier told M&R. “And quite frankly, I’m not ready to give that up.”
