Previously: Car Crash At 41st And Cabrillo Injures Four
A 38-year-old man was killed while driving a motorcycle in San Francisco’s Bayview District in one of two major crashes early this morning, a police spokesman said.
The crash was reported at about 1:25 a.m. near the intersection of Oakdale Avenue and Toland Street, police Officer Samson Chan said.
The motorcyclist, whose name has not been released, was traveling west on Oakdale Avenue when he crossed over into oncoming traffic, possibly to pass a slower-moving vehicle in front of him, Chan said.
He was struck by an oncoming vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Chan.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcyclist was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, he said.
Another early morning crash was reported at about 2:50 a.m. in the city’s Outer Richmond neighborhood near the intersection of Cabrillo Street and 40th Avenue, Chan said.
A vehicle traveling west on Cabrillo Street ran through a stop sign and broadsided another vehicle in the intersection, he said.
The driver of the vehicle that ran the stop sign was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to Chan.
Three people in the other car were also hospitalized but are expected to survive.
