lumberjack.jpgThe city’s Parks and Recreation department is offering a $2,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for a tree killing spree in Golden Gate Park.

More than 44 trees have been killed since mid-May in five separate attacks. Since these attacks are so sporadic SFPD has not been able to link them to any possible suspects.

Police believe the primary weapon used is a handsaw, but some trees have also been uprooted or stripped of bark at their base. The most recent attacks included the trees around the Music Concourse with 16 young trees sawed in two or at their bases.

If you have any information which could lead to the attacker, please contact Elton Pon at 415-831-2782, Inspector Liane Corrales at the Richmond Police Station at 415-666-8062, or text your tip to the SFPD at 8471411 (TIP411).
