This is Muni safety chief James Dougherty’s last week in his job before he leaves for DC’s Metro system to “ensure (riders) get where they want to go and then get home safely.”
Some have implied that Dougherty’s leaving after only one year with the SF MTA because problem’s with Muni’s culture are insurmountable.
But this news release from Dougherty’s new place of employ suggests that this might be one of those frying pan to fire situations, check it out:
Metro Transit Police arrested a Metrobus operator this evening after he allegedly displayed a knife to another motorist while operating a U2 route in Southeast Washington. The bus was pulled over by police in the 2900 block of Minnesota Avenue, SE.
The incident took place at about 5 p.m. following a traffic dispute between the motorist and bus operator. The operator of bus 2533 was taken to the Metropolitan Police Department’s 6th District for processing. He has been a bus operator for three years.
Suddenly, Muni’s not looking so bad…
