nose_19107_th.gifI walk by the W Hotel on 3rd Street every afternoon/evening, and most times, the smell of cinnamon buns comes wafting through the corridor between the W and the SFMOMA (by the WOW awning). What gives? Is someone secretly brewing warm icing and cinnamon treats?

I was stunned by how quickly the W employee I spoke with knew what I was talking about: “Oh, that’s Caffe Museo,” he said. The MOMA-owned cafe is on Hunt Lane, which lies between MOMA and the W. The cafe bakes their treats at night or during the graveyard hours – the employee I spoke with said he had smelled them as late as 5 A.M. He went on to explain that the cafe’s kitchen vents open up onto Hunt Lane.

Now you know! And now, I’m hungry.
