6:51 PM: True tells the media that the L is back in service, and that "The Muni Metro system is no longer experiencing rolling delays and gaps in service as a result of the earlier problems." I guess any delays at this point are just the regular ones, then.

5:48 PM: According to MTA spokesperson Judson True, an overhead wire problem at 36th and Taraval damaged the tops of several Muni Metro trains, causing them to get stuck at several locations throughout the city (including West Portal, Castro and Civic Center stations).

Though the wire problem's been fixed and all the vehicles causing blockages have been cleared out of the way, rolling delays and gaps in service remain.

Additionally, since MTA crews are taking a look at the offending wires, you're riding a bus if you're an L rider, as shuttle buses are running instead of trains.

Sure would have been handy to hear about all this on Twitter, eh? Sigh.
