8:40 PM: Good and bad news: in the good column, MTA spokesperson Judson True says that “Muni transfers will be honored on BART this evening within San Francisco per a mutual aid agreement between the two transit agencies.” Which is great if your Muni Metro route follows a BART line (but if it did, wouldn’t you be a BART rider in the first place?)!
In the bad, the commute seemed to suck even worse than we feared. Twitter was pretty much a Killing Fields of misery, and Appeal commenter Blooms fulfilled our worst expectations of Muni, saying
The commute sucked. No announcement at Embarcadero Station until after a 10 minute wait with no trains. No coherent information about shuttle link ups. And, this being SF, nary a cab in sight.

7:35 PM: As you probably know already, Muni Metro (that’s the light rail) service has been fucked since 5:30 p.m., when overhead wires at the Van Ness Station in the inbound direction were downed.
And the news gets better: according to MTA spokesperson Judson True, “Muni Metro subway service in both directions between Embarcadero and Castro stations is not expected to resume until the beginning of service on Thursday morning.”
True says crews are working to repair the wires, and shuttle buses are providing service in both directions on Market Street between Embarcadero and Castro.
Presumably, this sucks beyond all belief. How was your commute home?
