Recently released documents show that the San Francisco company employed by Stand For Marriage, the Maine-based group focused on stripping gay couples of their rights, has taken further steps to obscure their identity.

The San Francisco company, said to be marketing/PR firm Criswell Associates, has been variously identified as MarCom Mar Com and Mar/Com Services in the expenditure reports filed by the anti same sex marriage group. Earlier this month, the Appeal reported that this company, located at 58 Maiden Lane, expected to be paid over half a million dollars by the anti equality organization.

This same company is listed in a more recent filing from the group, this time billing nearly $40 K more. However, the stated address for the company has changed from 58 Maiden Lane to a mailbox rental facility at 268 Bush Street.

Unfortunately, Criswell Associates has failed to respond to any of the 10 phone calls made to them or their EVP, Alan Randolph (Interestingly, Randolph’s LinkedIn listing has disappeared since we wrote our Oct 14 story) by this reporter to confirm that they are, indeed, the company being paid such large sums by the folks who only want to defend one kind of marriage.

Between their disappearing web presence, the variations on the name in the filings, as well as the recent move to what’s essentially a PO box, it’s difficult not to wonder what this company has to hide.
