Eve, you need some coffee, stat. "Lightning" is that flashy stuff in the sky. "Lightening" is what someone needs to do to your workload.

Just call it what it is....earthquake predictor weather...I say we'll have a nice 4.5 or 5.2 roll thru here in 3...2...http://quake.usgs.gov/recenteqs/latest.htm

there was some interesting stuff on the San Andreas yesterday....

if I am right (about the earthquake), I will win the $26 million dollar lottery jackpot tonite too..

I am totally sending your comment to my spouse, as I have been hoping he'd bring me coffee for like two hours now.* And thanks for the fix, that's one of those words I have been unable to get right for about 35 years, now.

*What? I already recounted the dream I was having this morning, what's a little domestic crap in the comments?

Well I admit that Angel, baby alligators and a sports bar sounds like a helluva dream. I was in the middle of a cyberpunk/PI fantasy, as the clueless white person in a group of gorgeous multi-ethnic geniuses. They were just about to explain why I'd been tapped to join the team, then the storm woke me and I spent the next two hours pondering fractals, fog and palm trees.

Gida, my 8-year-old, 12-pound Boston terrier, has found all sorts of new places to sit there and stare at me this morning. She's lying in a perfectly straight line on the bed now, amazingly not shaking, but this is certainly highly unusual. She's usually curled up in a tiny black-and-white ball right now. Oh, well. I grew up in Texas, and seriously love thunderstorms. After barbeque, it's what I miss the most about "home."

I advise coffee and comforting music to ride this nuttiness out.

Eve, it's like being somewhere positively awful, like Indianapolis or Kansas City, huh?

user-pic

I know, right? I keep thinking that if any of my friends/family from Indy read this story, all their worst suspicions about how soft one gets when they move to California will be confirmed. As if they have not been every Christmas I fly into Weir Cook, step outside, have a cold-related heart attack, and die.

I am having my coffee now and will work diligently to spell things correctly.

The thunder and lightening interrupted our REMs. Thats it. My 14 lb cat Tigre (the Lion King really) woke up first. He simply walked over to my chest and plopped himself down with no glares or stares. It did not effect him in the least bit but wake him up from dreaming about his ultimate fantasy. Chasing all dogs out of the neighborhood. (I love dogs, he does not). I also love this weather. We do not see this type of weather often in San Francisco. Embrace it people. Stay in today. Snuggle up in a blanket, drink your coffee, and read that dusty book you have had. Slurrp.

"but IT did wake" (I corrected myself, hehe)

This was the first place I came for my crazy weather news updates. And I'm glad I did. "God-hating meteorologists dispute the end of days theory" made my day.

Oh, and anyone who read my Facebook update can attest that I too spell that crackly electrical stuff in the sky "lightening."

We had a lightning strike very close to us on Mt Davidson and lost power for about an hour. Anyone have confirmed strike locations?

dude, I had southern thunderstorms for the first 21 years of my life, and this morning's loudness still scared the crap out of me. For about 5 seconds, I was certain a building had blown up or Jesus was on his way.
