4:07 PM: True now tells us that as of 4:00 p.m. the problem cleared and the Muni Metro subway has resumed full automatic operation. It seems like tempting fate to make those proclamations but whatever.

4:04 PM: Twitter person Alex Zepeda disputes True’s characterization of the delays as having started at 3:03. “”Rolling delays” since about 1:30pm actually,” he says, also noting “sfmunicentral.com says otherwise. ATCS cockup between Forest Hill and Van Ness inbound.” (We love that Alex sits there pondering the Ponglike Zen of sfmunicentral.)

Anyone else have any perspectives they’d like to share? Oh! I have one! THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY MUNI ALERTS TODAY I NEVER GOT IN THE SHOWER. The situation is dire, people.

3:43 PM: Ha! We did jinx it! Of course we do not mean “ha” because it is not funny that, says MTA spokesperson Judson “no matter how bad your day has been his has probably been worse” True:

“As of 3:03 p.m., there are rolling delays in the Muni Metro subway because a problem with the train control system is requiring some light rail vehicles (LRVs) to operate in manual mode. As of 3:32 p.m, K/T, L and M LRVs operating inbound (toward downtown) between Church and Embarcadero stations are in manual mode. Outbound trains on these lines and all N and J LRVs are operating in automatic mode.”
