1:39 PM: That was speedy! From the Mayor’s office:

Today San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom and Jennifer Siebel Newsom are celebrating the birth of a healthy baby daughter, Montana Tessa Newsom.

She was born in San Francisco at 12:39 p.m. today. She is 20.5 inches long
and weighs 7 lbs. 12 oz.

1:12 PM: Bringing new meaning to the phrase “Follow Friday,” Gavin Newsom recently tweeted that he has “Arrived at hospital — hours away from becoming a father” and more recently, “Ok… I’m nervous– 10 minutes and we begin.”

Jennifer Siebel, the mother-to-be, was not due until next week, but (speaking as someone who was pregnant in summer heat herself) given the weather report for next week, Baby girl Newsom’s timing couldn’t have been better.
