Hey, remember that “dream house” raffle, where you could buy a $150 chance to win a big ‘ol house in the Inner Sunset?
You probably already know that you didn’t win it, Vivian Heinzel of San Carlos did.
Heinzel, a real estate agent, had to choose between taking the house or a $1.8 million dollar cash prize last week.
Upon hearing the news of her win, Curbed SF said “We hope you took the cash!” And, what do you know, their hopes were realized: YBCA spokesperson Kimberly Harding informed us that “she took the money.”
What does that mean for the big house with all the mailboxes? Harding tells us “Since the house will not be given away as part of the raffle, then it will remain with the owner and they can do with it as they wish” explaining “We partnered with an individual to raffle off the house – we had the rights to raffle it off but the ownership wasn’t transferred to us.”
YBCA reportedly made $1.3 million bucks from the raffle. While we’re trying not to read too much into the idea that a real estate agent opted for cash over property, something tells us that the arts organization will end up the biggest winner in this battle for cash and prizes.
