How much do you love nerdy transit rides? Enough to drop $10 ($5 with a FastPass) on tomorrow’s Appealing Event: One last ride on that dying beast, the Culture Bus.
Muni spokesperson Kristen Holland put paid to the debate, confirming our commenters statements that the fare had been raised to $10, $5 with a FastPass.
Why wasn’t the CB site updated with this info? Turns out the site was not an MTA product, but was “contracted by one of the cultural institutions.”
$10 is a lot to ask, we know, but we still hope you’ll join us tomorrow on our ride downtown and back on that big yellow bus. We want to see you!
Details:
When: Saturday, August 15th, at 3:45. We’ll ride the 4 PM CB on its merry route to New Montgomery, then back again. Your ticket is good for unlimited travel in any direction between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the date of issue, so no need for a transfer!
Where: Meet up at the Golden Gate Park Academy of Science inbound stop at 3:45 on Saturday the 15th, or catch up with us anywhere on the route. (For example, Brock Keeling says he’ll meet us at New Montgomery.)
AND we now know that cash fare for the Culture Bus is $10 (exact change only), or $5 with current FastPass. Holland could not confirm that TransLink works on the Culture Bus — commenters? What say you there?

It goes without saying that we at the Appeal expect anyone coming on this ride to observe Muni rules at all times. Don’t be a tool on the bus!
