UPDATE: Here’s a picture, from flickr user joephish. It sure does look like “Free SF8” to us. Anyone know who’s responsible?

From Appeal staffer Rain Jokinen:

I’m on the shuttle on the way to work, and I can see some kind of message scrawled on the side of Bernal Mountain, facing the City. I think it says “Free SF 8” but can’t be sure because whoever did it didn’t do a very good job distinguishing the letters. I guess it has to do with this

If the message is as read by Rain, the Bernal Mt. defacer is not the only person who feels this way: SF’s Board of Supes is also suggesting charges be dropped against the group of 8 men recently charged in the 1971 shooting of SFPD Sgt. John V. Young.

Has anyone else seen this message, and, if so, can you confirm what it says? Pictures: bonus!
