While we wait to see what goes down with the class action suit filed on behalf of all the former CitiApartments (one of the largest landlords in SF) tenants who have been refused a prompt return of their uncontested deposit, how about another round of Tales of the Citi?
In today’s installment, we hear from a current tenant who has a number of furry pals in his building (Is it too close to Michael Jackson’s passing to make a Ben joke?), and some fun games of what the more PC folks where I grew up called “ding dong ditch.” Like we always say, read it and weep:
I’ve lived at [REDACTED] since 1993. It’s been hideous since 2000 when they took over by banging on people’s doors like the cops and then saying a bucket I had outside was a violation – when the elevator hadn’t worked in 2 weeks. When I stood up to them – I immediately started getting sudden bangs on my door at between 1-3a and no one there when I got to the door.
Recently, the rats problem downstairs is completely unspeakable. Whenever you go down there (at night) as many as 36 rats go scrambling in all directions. When Citi started with composting bins then the rats got really desperate, and more aggressive. You could hear the babies crying for food, and the ceiling of the laundry room (also in the basement) is stained with rat feces and urine and the room is unusable.
Yesterday when I entered the building the apt was being shown (the one just above the rat infestation) and I wanted to say something but whenever you stand up to them you are singled out for harassment and the tenants are too afraid to speak up en masse. But we have older people here and the elevators are out at least several hours every day – and throughout most weekends.
