Since we started covering the issues folks have been having with CitiApartments, we’ve gotten a lot of email from people who wanted to share their experiences.
While we’re waiting for just a few more folks to weigh in on whether or not flagging CitiApartments listings on craigslist hurts innocent rental agents — look, we want to give them a fair shake, though some might argue that that’s more than they have given others — we thought we’d share some of these stories with you, in a feature we’re going to call, with apologies to Mr. Maupin, “Tales Of The Citi.”
Today, we have a story from a reader who says “I don’t know how much longer CitiApartments can keep up with their already horrible job as property owners and landlords.” Read and weep:
Both front and back elevators have been out of order for over three months…(and) the elevator permits expired in February 07My partner and I have been residents at (REDACTED) since 2001; a convenient location but a bad building with even worse management. The building managers, (REDACTED) (Twiddle Dum and Twiddle Dee, interchangeable between parenthesis) are absolutely the worst; non-communicative, hostile/obnoxious. Three years ago, when my partner had a heart attack, he fell and the lavatory in the bath came away from the wall. It has not worked since. We are told if we want it fixed, we must do so at our expense.
Elevators: Both front and back elevators have been out of order for over three months. (recently) my partner had to be taken to the hospital by paramedics. They were not happy that they had to climb the six floors and descend the six floors to get him in the ambulance. They asked about the resident manager, which they indicated must be there 24/7 in a building of this size. Of course, the manager was not there (he works nights at the Hilton, I understand). They also noticed the elevator permits expired in February 07.
Most recently a young man that lived across the hall was locked out of his apartment. When he tried the building managers, they were, of course, not available. He stupidly tried to enter his apartment from the roof where he fell to his death.
For several years, I have been hearing of law suits filed by the city against CitiApartments. However, it appears nothings is moving forward. I understand it takes time to collect evidence. But this is just ridiculous. How much evidence does the DA need to bring this Limbi regime into court. It’s beginning to look rather fishy.
To be fair, the suit is actually coming from the City Attorney’s office. We’ll take this moment to remind all of you that you can call them with your CitiApartments concerns at 415-554-3977. But we want to hear the stories too — remember, every story we can publish is one more story that might get heard by a prospective renter. Whoops, so much for that fair shake thing, huh?
