the problem is you have all these self appointed leaders and/or groups and each one of them wants to be The One That Saved Gay Marriage. They want all the credit because they're so brilliant, and of course, this is not going to go well.
When the ballot measure to ban affirmative action in the 90s (see a pattern here?) was on the ballot ,the "committee" to oppose it was so enveloped in internal fighting and so on, they got their asses kicked.
Maybe it's time to step back and stop having civil rights "voted on" by the mob, fed a diet of talk radio and tv ads and robocalls, and leave it up to people who know the law...just sayin'.
