Oh no! The Oh No–ing we expected to be do today might have to wait, as the judge scheduled to deliver Ed Jew’s state court sentence has fallen ill and today’s sentencing will, most likely, be rescheduled.
You already know Ed received his federal sentence of 64 months a couple of weeks ago. Back in November, Jew also pled guilty in state court to one charge of perjury out of an original nine felony counts of election code violations, voter fraud and providing false documents (the other 8 charges were dismissed). In other words, for claiming he lived in San Francisco (and could therefore be a Supe here) when he was living la vida Burlingame.
Stuart Hanlon, Jew’s lawyer, has said that he expected today’s sentence to be between one and three years. It’s also anticipated that he’ll be permanently disqualified from holding public office in California.
In answer to Rita’s earlier question, do they “just tack on the rest of the state criminal law sentence to his time in the federal pokey, or does he have to move facilities?,” we’re told that it’s also expected that the judge who hands down his state sentence will rule that the sentences are to be served concurrently, presumably with the help of one of these.
