Our more counter cultural sources tell us that Thursday’s protests to mark the 6th anniversary of the war in Iraq will be “child’s play compared to Saturday’s.” Why? Because, apparently, a bigger turnout is anticipated because “On Saturday everyone won’t have to miss work to ‘fight imperialism’….”
It all starts at with an 11 AM rally at Justin Herman Plaza (four stars on Yelp!). Everyone’s going to start marching at noon heading down Market Street to McAllister then to Civic Center for ANOTHER rally.
Traffic impact: Market Street east of McAllister will be closed to traffic, with cross traffic also affected. We’re told that “streets will re-open as the march passes” but, if Thursday was any indication, it’s not going to be that easy.
Muni’s so sweet! They tell us “Muni customers wishing to participate or who otherwise want to go downtown are advised to take Muni Metro.” Rad that they are supportive of the anti-imperialists! They add that these lines are going to be screwed up: F Market, 5 Fulton, 6 Parnassus, 9 San Bruno, 9X Bayshore Express, 10 Townsend, 14 Mission, 21 Hayes, 19 Polk, 26 Valencia, 27 Bryant, 30 Stockton, 31 Balboa, 38 Geary, 45 Union-Stockton, 71 Haight-Noriega, 74X CultureBus!!!
