The article on SF Gate now has "avenue" instead of "street." But my first question on seeing the article was why the Chron suddenly decided to admit the existence of neighborhood newspapers now. Many of these pubs have been scooping the britches off the Chronicle for years, with scant or absent acknowledgment from the Chronicle when it finally gets around to the story. If the Chronicle's hook for the story was the anniversaries of the excellent Potrero View and El Tecolote, why weren't those papers worthy of a story on their own?
The local journalism field in San Francisco is even richer than the article lets on, as the city now is blessed not only with a wealth of neighborhood newspapers, but also neighborhood news publications in non-print form, such as Haighteration, the Richmond SF Blog and the Appeal, to name only a few.
