Weird, I thought there was a Krispy Kreme at the Wharf (must have been confused by the In and Out. Or the Bubba Gumps. Or the awesome drawing I got of me with a big head playing tennis). Well, there isn’t, but the list on the left tells you where our closest local KKs are.
Which is important, because tomorrow is “National Doughnut Day.” Before I started writing this, I thought this was bogus PR bullshit, like “Secretary’s Day” or “Christmas” but it’s not as bad as all that: actually, it’s a 71-year-old holiday based in the Salvation Army’s work during WWI. Google University strikes again.
Krispy Kreme’s celebrating Friday’s surprisingly illustrious holiday by giving away a free doughnut to every customer, no purchase necessary. Yeah, I know, it’s not that hard to get a free KK doughnut by just, say, waiting in line, but now it’s a definite, which is nice.
Since we’ve all been burned by some sort of promotional freebie that wasn’t, we rang up every single one of our Bay Area Krispy Kremes to ensure they’re participating. They were all happy to tell us that they are, our favorite being the Union City KK worker, who said “Girl! You know, you can even get a fancy one! We don’t care! All for free!”
