Attention, morning commuters and small children: we’ve been warned that one of our historic street cars will fall victim to a group of zombies on October 26 at 7 am. Hold off on your crossbows and machetes, though — this zombie invasion’s just to promote a cable TV show.

In this promotional stunt for AMC’s soon-to-premiere series “The Walking Dead”, (based on the comic books of the same name), hundreds of zombies are taking part in a “worldwide zombie invasion” striking 26 cities like Taipei, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Madrid, Munich, London, Sao Paolo, Buenos Aires, New York City and Los Angeles, many in front of major world landmarks like, perhaps, our beloved Bay Bridge. There’s nothing better than a zombie who is world-traveled, self-aware, and has racked up the frequent flier miles. Single SF ladies, take note!

‘Fraidy cat commuters be aware that this “invasion”‘s planned for an Embarcadero-area streetcar, so if that’s what you ride to work, you could always call in late with a “zombie phobia” excuse. I’m sure your boss will love it.

“The Walking Dead” is premiering Halloween night at 10/9c on AMC.
