PeaktoPeakNxNW.jpgThis Saturday October 16th, Walk San Francisco is having their 6th annual “Peak to Peak” Walk – this time with a whole new route. The 13 mile trail, dubbed “North by Northwest”, will take participants through little-known trails and hidden stairways, climbing 10 peaks from the Mission to the Sunset.

The walk starts at the 24th Street Mission Bart Station, weaving south to Bernal Heights and through Glen Park before stopping for lunch in a meadow on Mt. Sutro. After lunch, the group will trek through the peaks of Parnassus, Golden Gate Park, and the Richmond – ending at Lands End high above the ocean.

Lunch and guides are provided along the walk. Many will head to the Park Chalet afterwords for beer and food (my kinda walking group). Another bonus – all participants will be entered in a raffle to win prizes like gift certificates for massages, local restaurants, and outdoor gear. If you convince someone to sponsor you for $100 you will automatically qualify for a prize. The top fundraisers get the first pickings.

The event organizers ask that you register before the day of the event. Last year the walk sold out so go ahead and register now to ensure yourself a spot.
