THREAD.jpgThe ever-growing independent design show, THREAD, makes another stop in San Francisco this Saturday, June 19. The event showcases products from over 100 local fashion designers including house wares and furniture (a new addition this year!)

As part of the 2010 Independent Design Tour and San Francisco’s Design Week , the show features trend-setting designs where you can find one-of-a-kind pieces and meet designers face-to-face. While you shop, live bands and DJs will provide some entertainment for the ear, artwork for sale will give you some candy for the eye, and complimentary food and drink will of course be there for the stomach.

Lara Matthews, founder of THREAD said, “This is a unique opportunity to support independent designers, invest in your local economy and decrease your carbon footprint.” She said her favorite part about the show is that the designs “are not mass-produced and are made with a level of care and quality that’s not at most commercial retailers.”

The THREAD show is known for:

Good style: Not only do you get first dibs on the hottest new styles, you get free fashion tips at each booth. Runways shows featuring the latest spring trends will be at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Good value: Each booth offers up to 80% off regular retail prices. You can also get a free makeover at the hair and makeup Style Lounge.

Good karma: You can buy eco-friendly and ethically produced clothing at the THREAD Responsibly section. Have fun with a little recycling by bringing in a bag of old clothes to swap with someone else at the Swap Lounge. And if you bring extra clothes at the door to donate to a local charity, you get in for $8 instead of $10.

Long overdue for a wardrobe update, I’ll be doing some closet purging tonight in hope of a better swap at the show. And with all the unique designs there, maybe I’ll even find something for Father’s Day to suit my dad’s eclectic style.
